Tamil Classes
Empowering the general public with the ability to converse in Tamil is an essential skill needed for the betterment of Sri Lanka. Gaps in communication within our own communities not only create social issues but also, build a mental wall of separation between people of different origins.

While facilitating Tamil classes indeed act as another strengthening factor from which gaps between rural and urban Sri Lanka can be bridged, it also aligns with the Sri Lankan government’s objective to secure trilingual (Sinhala, Tamil and English) proficiency in the country.
Currently, post-war reconciliation efforts are carried out at many different levels in Sri Lanka. The Foundation of Goodness’ contribution to build and promote peace in the country takes form of providing free of cost Tamil language courses to children and adults in Seenigama and surrounding areas. The beneficiaries include people of different walks of life such as Foundation of Goodness’ staff, rural men, women and children.
Under the able-guidance of a Tamil teacher, as of June 2011; the Foundation of Goodness has been the home to 200 students that have successfully completed training under the Tamil language program. The demand for Tamil classes have grown since its inception in February 2011 so much that, the course that commenced by facilitating one class has grown to become three classes within the span of 04 months.
The Foundation of Goodness foresees to extend its Tamil language training program to more rural communities providing language proficiency to many more people who will greatly benefit from the knowledge of Tamil language in the long run.
