“Every child is born a genius"
- R. Buckminster Fuller
The Annual Concert is a big day for the kids, teachers as well as the parents of “Lahiru” pre-school. As the kids of Upper Kindergarten bid farewell to their two year stint, it is time for them as well as the rest of the kids in the lower kindergarten to show off what they are capable of to their loved ones.

The teaching staff makes preparation for this event during the entire month of November, training kids in various activities which they accomplish with much commitment and the involvement of parents as well giving them the opportunity to be a part of this special programme.
As the day dawned on Saturday the 11th December, kids enthusiastically awaited to welcome the Chief Guests Mr. & Mrs. Ibrahim & Meluri Meru, accompanied by their niece Fathima from Canada, and their beloved founder Kushil Gunasekera who took time off his busy schedule to spend time with the kids together with the other invitees.

As the kids lined up to perform a traditional dance to the beat of drums in welcoming the guests, there was yet another group of kids with beaming smiles at the entrance to the AVIVA Community Hall carrying garlands that took the guests by surprise, yet they gladly bowed down to receive these beautifully made colourful garlands treating them with a warm cuddle before proceeding to the packed hall.

The oil lamp made out of coconut shells and husks by the teachers was extraordinarily eye catching as the guests lit up the lamp to the soothing background music of “Danno Bhudunge”, a traditional Sinhala song.
The day’s plan began with a welcome speech delivered by a teacher followed by the two kids who also said in their little speech how happy and honoured they are to see so many people present to witness the concert and took up the challenge in showing off the many dancing acts, poems, speeches and songs whilst everybody applauded and cheered in happiness as the little ones performed. They were adorable and equally talented which made the day so memorable to the visitors who enjoyed every bit of the show.

Distribution of Essential School Supplies to 58 kids at the end of the concert was a significant episode. This donation was made possible for the second consecutive year by a group of extremely kind people in the USA who called themselves “Reconcile and Rebuild Sri Lanka – Together we can”. How awesome, admirable and praiseworthy!! We, at the Foundation of Goodness extend our heartfelt gratitude to “Reconcile & Rebuild Sri Lanka” for this wholesome deed that paved the way for 58 disadvantaged rural kids to go to school for one year without having to worry about their essential school items such as; uniform, shoes, socks, a school bag, pens, 8 exercise books, lunch box, water bottle and other necessary items required for the school year. It was very heartening to see the kids who looked very excited & happy as they embraced their individual bags to pose for the photograph under the Essential School Supplies banner, waving to the crowd.

The National Anthem was sung in conclusion of the day’s proceeding.
