FOR THE CHILDREN AND THEIR FUTURE

The Foundation of Goodness is pleased to announce the kind and generous
sponsorship of the Aberdeen-Sri Lanka Link (ASL) in the construction of the
building of two computers cum library rooms at the Dombagoda School in
Tittagalla and Woodland School at Gonapinawella.
Both of these schools have extremely basic facilities and are utilized by
children from very poor family backgrounds. The computer cum library rooms so
generously sponsored will no doubt go a long way in enhancing the childrens'
potential and will prepare them to face the future in today's challenging
environment. This is especially so since IT knowledge is today a pre-requisite
in obtaining quality employment, and the lack of this facility is currently
hampering the progress of many intelligent and able students in the rural
community.
The ASL has pledged and remitted to the Foundation a sum of STP 6,090/-,
which will be utilized towards the construction of these two buildings. The
construction has commenced and is due to be completed by mid- November at
Woodlands and by the end of the month at Dombagoda.
The Foundation has taken the responsibility of securing other donors for the
furnishing of the buildings as well as equipping them with computers and library
books. Details of the assistance required can be viewed in the " How You Can
Help" section of this website.
The start of the school year in January 2005 was fraught with despair as the
students struggled to come to terms with the chaos around them resulting from
the Boxing Day Tsunami. In contrast, the start of the school year in January
2006 will no doubt create a sense of gladness and hope in the students of these
two schools when they see the new facilities available at their schools through
the graciousness of friends who cared enough from far away across the globe. We
at the Foundation of Goodness are extremely grateful to the ASL for their
contribution that will bring hope into the hearts of these underprivileged
children. |
