Commencement of 25 New Homes

With the success of our first constructed house behind us we have now embarked on the process of building 25 more homes. This week (31 March) we have begun the preparation and initial building of the houses. The village management committee was responsible for selecting the families who will receive these homes with the primary criterion being those most in need.

The cost of each home is expected to be Rs 275,000/- or US$ 2,750. The recipients have agreed to assist with the cost of labor by directly helping with the construction of their own homes. It is hoped that this batch of 25 will be complete by April 30th, at which time we will acknowledge the recipients of the next set of houses.

As an organization we have anticipated this project for quite some time. The community has embraced this project and it has lifted their spirit to another level. Furthermore, the progress that they see has confirmed our commitment to help them grow and develop into a self-sustaining community. We must thank all of our sponsors and donors as well as our wonderful architect Dinesh who is spearheading the construction of new homes to provide a better way of life for our friends.
