GENEROSITY KNOWS NO LIMITS

"...it was a fantastic experience for us to share those 3 days with you and your team. Meeting the families and visiting each home was not a pain but an enlighting experience I have to admit that of all the projects we are doing, this one is a truly emotional one. When you give a house to a family it is another story than doing surgery... so we learned."
Bernard Sabrier, Children Action
Undoubtedly one of the most enriching times that the region has experienced, the people of Seenigama and neighbouring villages had the privilege of hosting Children Action from 4th to 6th November. Children Action is a Swiss charitable foundation committed to assisting disadvantaged children worldwide and providing positive changes to their lives.

Since our first meeting with Children Action, our relations with the organization have been extremely positive, to say the very least. The primary purpose for the recent visit was to officially open 30 of the 75 homes throughout the region, so kindly donated by Children Action. Such gifts are immeasurable in terms of their effect on recipients and deserve much gratitude on behalf of the villagers, in particular those families whose hopes and dreams have been lifted. The elaborate celebrations and ceremonies put on by each town were but a small token of their timeless appreciation for the assistance received.
But the generosity does not stop there. More recently, Children Action has so kindly offered to provide yet another 75 Tsunami-affected families in the 100 metre zone (which has recently been approved for construction) with brand new homes. This is a fantastic milestone of an achievement, since this has been by far the greatest donation ever received from one donor. A truly remarkable contribution to the rebuilding of the area that shall not be forgotten.

This particular housing project donated by Children Action is also unique in
that it includes a personal touch often lacking from construction projects of
its kind. Those who have so far received their new homes are delighted by the
overall package provided. For many, their new homes represent something much
greater than they have ever experienced. Complete with modern amenities, private
gardens, electricity and a water supply, their new homes are their pride and joy
- a wonderful transition particularly for those families who have suffered
terribly since the Tsunami.
The generosity and wholesome projects offered by Children Action have been
inspirational. Such dedication to our cause is most praiseworthy and drives our
motivation to continually enhance our work in the region.
