A New Van to Help Seenigama

The Foundation of Goodness has been gifted its first official vehicle! Through the kind generosity of two donors, the blue Nissan Caravan 10 seater passenger van pictured above has already helped the Foundation tremendously.

We offer our sincere gratitude to 'AVIVA' the holding company of Norwich Union Insurance (UK), and the International Relief and Development (USA). These two kind donors provided the funds which allowed the Foundation to make this much needed purchase.

Each week Foundation of Goodness staff, overseas volunteers and Doctors travel between Colombo and Seenigama, along with relief goods which need to be delivered to Seenigama.

Previously the Foundation was hiring a van at a significant cost. The gift of the vehicle will save the Foundation time and precious funds. We have also been able to permanently employ Roshan, our lovely, accommodating driver.

We must specifically thank John and Alison Hodgson from AVIVA who originally wanted to send a Mercedes Benz Van for the Foundation's use. It turned out unfeasible to import a vehicle, however, the vehicle was simply sold in the UK and the funds transferred for us to buy a van here in Sri Lanka, which was so thoughtful.

The IRD actually gave the funds to support transport of volunteer doctors for our Rainbow Clinic which treats 200 patients per week. When IRD saw the proposal which included transport costs for doctors, they actually increased the grant in order for us to purchase a vehicle instead of continually hiring one!

The combined funds from these two generous donors have enabled the purchase of the vehicle and for this we are sincerely grateful!
