Help give Children a Double Blessing

The Foundation of Goodness is so pleased to again be working with Jeanne Sanuel and the Rotary Club of Colombo North, to improve the lives of needy children. This Rotary Club has donated Rs 150,000/- (US $1,500) to provide essential school items to 100 children.

Prior to the tsunami, the Foundation of Goodness was heavily involved in community programs. One such program was the sponsorship of the educational needs of children. In fact, the Foundation had given over 2000 children their required items for schooling since 1999.

The items are presented at a ceremony, one of which was planned in Seenigama on Boxing Day 2004. Needless to this ceremony did not go ahead and some children lost their lives while waiting for the event to begin. This heart breaking tragedy was magnified by the assumption that near 50 children died on the bus on their way to Seenigama for the event, these children were coming from Ankokawala in the Galle District.

It is absolutely heart warming that the children we once thought had perished on the way to this ceremony are alive. Furthermore, they are going to receive their school items as requested by them due to the generosity of the Rotary Club of Colombo North - This certainly is a double blessing!

On this occasion the ceremony will be held their school, owing to the understandable fear of the recipients traveling to Seenigama.
