Children and Education

We recognize the importance of our children and their welfare and as future leaders of the development of Sri Lanka, we place a great focus on developing and fostering their education, skills and values, to ensure them greater opportunities in life.
Thousands of children have benefited from the work carried out by the Foundation which has included:

• The provision of 5939 Essential School Supply packages, including a school bag, exercise books, pens, shoes etc. which are all essential school requirements.
• A Scholarship Programme that provides children and youth with continuous educational support, including tuition, school supplies, reading material and any extra-curricular costs. Over 200 children have received scholarships through this programme.
• A modern Pre-school within MCC Centre of Excellence was established as a model in the region.
• The construction and repair of schools in the area, including the provision of sport, musical and educational equipment and computers
• The establishment of well-stocked children’s libraries
• The establishment of Computer and English Training facilities in surrounding villages
• The creation of Pre-school facilities
• Drama and Art Therapy
