Management and Accountability

The Foundation of Goodness (FoG) is dedicated to operating in a transparent and professionally managed way, so that the rural poor of the Seenigama region receive maximum benefit from the generous donations made by supporters.

Management

The Foundation of Goodness is managed by Founder/Trustee Kushil Gunasekera along with a Board of five Trustees:

  • Kushil Gunasekera
  • Muttiah Muralidaran
  • Chaminda Vaas
  • Rohan Iriyagolle
  • Ashan Malalasekara
  • Kumar Sangakkara

The Trustees contribute in numerous ways to the strategic direction and operational plans for the Foundation of Goodness, with a major focus on creating an environment which engenders learning opportunities for disadvantaged rural children and youth.

Since the tsunami recovery projects began winding down late 2007, the Trustees are now focusing on the MCC Centre of Excellence and the Seenigama Sports Academy, both of which offer a wealth of opportunity for skills development in a wide range of areas.

Details of the Foundation of Goodness’ activities will be published in the Annual Report.

Financial Accountability

The Foundation of Goodness adheres to the highest standards of financial accountability and reporting. Annual audits are conducted by internationally reputable accounting firm KPMG. Copies of previous audited financial accounts, monthly statements and latest financial updates are available upon request.
Despite enormous investments in a multifaceted approach and substantial infrastructure, FoG’s administrative costs remain at maximum of 5% of donated funds for large projects such as infrastructure development, and where long term management is required.
No administrative costs are charged in the case of children’s activities, school development, housing and livelihood projects, since the total amount granted is credited to those undertakings.
Major donors for projects such as the MCC Centre of Excellence receive continual feedback, including financial updates and photographs of progress, as evidence that their investment in FoG is sound.
Since the tsunami FoG has received approximately USD $4 million from worldwide donors, which has enabled substantial progress in tsunami recovery and beyond in the Seenigama region.
