The Foundation of Goodness celebrated a remarkable milestone—25 years of empowering rural Sri Lanka—on 21st December 2024 at the OYOB Centre of Excellence in Seenigama. This special occasion brought together staff members, trustees, and donors from across the globe, making it a truly memorable day filled with gratitude, camaraderie, and joy.
The event was a rare opportunity to gather all our staff from 20 Empowerment Centres islandwide in one place. It provided a platform for them to connect, share stories, and celebrate the collective impact of their efforts over the past quarter-century. Our international donors, who have supported our journey over the years, joined us in person, adding to the significance of the event. Having the majority of our trustees present further underscored the importance of this milestone, though we missed the presence of one who, unfortunately, could not attend.
A highlight of the day was the launch of our new video, capturing the essence of the Foundation of Goodness’ mission and accomplishments. This video, which beautifully narrates our story and ongoing efforts, was warmly received by all present and is now available for viewing below.
The celebrations were brought to life with special performances by our talented Dance for Good students and other beneficiaries. Their vibrant singing, dancing, and musical instrument performances showcased the transformative power of the Foundation’s programmes, highlighting the creativity and confidence nurtured within our communities.
Following the main event, a special lunch was organised for the invitees at the Sports Academy Clubhouse, offering a delightful setting to continue conversations, reflect on shared achievements, and foster new connections.
The 25th Anniversary Celebration was more than just an event—it was a tribute to the unwavering support of everyone who has contributed to our journey, from the dedicated staff and volunteers to the generous donors and trustees. It was a moment to look back on the lives transformed, the challenges overcome, and the bridges built between urban and rural communities.
During this momentous occasion, we were also honoured to welcome a new trustee to the Foundation of Goodness, Dr. Kushwin Rajamani. Dr. Rajamani has been a steadfast supporter of our initiatives, consistently contributing towards our mission of uplifting rural communities. His official inclusion as a trustee marks a significant step forward, bringing valuable expertise and dedication to our efforts. We are excited to have him join us in shaping the future of the Foundation as we continue to expand our impact across Sri Lanka.
As we mark this incredible milestone, we remain committed to breaking the cycle of poverty, empowering rural Sri Lanka and bridging the urban-rural divide for a brighter future. Here’s to the next 25 years of goodness!
