1300 Kilometres of Compassion – The 2025 Pimp My Tuk Tuk Charity Ride with the Foundation of Goodness

In September 2025, 42 riders from 11 countries set out on an extraordinary 1,300 km journey across Sri Lanka, not for leisure, but for love. The Pimp My Tuk Tuk (PMTT) Charity Ride 2025, in partnership with the Foundation of Goodness, brought together compassionate adventurers from the UK, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Singapore, Australia, Japan, the USA, Hong Kong, Canada, New Zealand and the Netherlands. Their mission: to raise funds for rural development and empowerment initiatives that continue to transform lives across the island.

This was no ordinary road trip. Travelling in 21 brightly coloured tuk tuks, the riders journeyed from Negombo to Colombo, passing through Kurunegala, Sigiriya, Mihintale, Vavuniya, Jaffna, Trincomalee, Ampara, Monaragala, Dickwella and Hikkaduwa. Every stop along the way brought laughter, connection and impact, a testament to how far compassion can truly travel.

A Ride with Purpose

The PMTT Charity Ride, returning for its third edition after successful runs in 2015 and 2017, once again chose the Foundation of Goodness (FoG) as its charity partner. With over 25 years of service, FoG has empowered more than a million rural Sri Lankans through education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, sports and sustainable livelihood initiatives, all provided free of charge across 22 empowerment centres.

The 2025 ride raised funds to further this mission, uplifting disadvantaged communities through women’s empowerment, children’s education, clean water access and community well-being.

Kurunegala – Nourishment Beyond the Classroom

The first major stop took the riders to a local school in Kurunegala, where they served lunch to dozens of children. The simple act of sharing a meal became a moment of joy and laughter, echoed across the playground as the riders interacted with the students, reminding everyone that kindness often begins with the smallest gestures.

Mihintale & Thanthirimale – The Gift of Clean Water

A poignant stop on the route was Mihintale, where the riders visited their first ever reverse-osmosis water purification plants that PMTT established 11 years ago during their first ride. Seeing this long-standing installations and meeting local residents offered a powerful reminder of the lasting impact of clean water. Safer drinking supplies have helped reduce the risks associated with CKDu and improved everyday life. Villagers greeted the team with refreshments and heartfelt thanks. To date, PMTT have established five RO plants, delivering more than 8 million litres of clean water to communities over the past 11 years.

PMTT riders from the Reece Foundation also detoured to Thanthirimale to see a separate RO Plant their organisation had helped organise previously.

Vavuniya, Trincomalee & Ampara – Empowering Rural Hearts

In the Northern and Eastern provinces, the riders visited three Village Heartbeat Empowerment (VHE) Centres established by the Foundation of Goodness in Vavuniya, Trincomalee and Ampara (Thirukkovil) Districts. These centres offer free education, vocational training, IT literacy and personal development opportunities to children and adults from some of Sri Lanka’s most underserved regions.

The Vavuniya VHE Centre, supported by Yahawa Koffee Works, a proud member of the PMTT family, was a particularly special stop. The riders witnessed firsthand how their support translates into tangible change, from confident young students learning English to women mastering tailoring skills to earn a living.

Monaragala – A Heart for Meth Sewa

In Monaragala, the team visited the Meth Sewa Foundation, a home for differently-abled individuals that has received continuous support from PMTT since 2017. Over the years, the riders have helped improve living conditions and provided essential resources to ensure dignity and care for every resident.

As the riders mingled with the residents, they were met with smiles and songs, a moving reminder that inclusion and empathy are the true measures of progress.

Seenigama – The Journey Comes Full Circle

The charity ride concluded at Foundation of Goodness’ flagship venue, The Centre of Excellence and Sports Academy in Seenigama, a hub of empowerment where education, sports and life skills intersect. Here, the riders saw the Foundation’s wide-reaching impact, from young cricketers training on the grounds to women attending business classes and children engaging in digital learning sessions.

Before concluding in Colombo, the riders also donated stationery, clothing, dental hygiene products and toys, bringing joy to countless families and children along the way.

Beyond the Road – The Spirit of Compassion

The Pimp My Tuk Tuk Charity Ride 2025 was not just about the kilometres covered, but about the connections made and the lives touched. As the riders navigated scenic coastlines, bustling villages and rural heartlands, they discovered the true beauty of Sri Lanka in its landscapes and in its people.

Their brightly decorated tuk tuks became symbols of hope, rolling ambassadors of goodwill that carried messages of unity, compassion and shared humanity.

Every kilometre driven, every handshake shared and every smile exchanged became part of a much larger story,  one of resilience, generosity and global togetherness.

A Legacy That Endures

Organised by the Pimp My Tuk Tuk Team in Singapore, the ride’s proceeds will continue to fund sustainable development projects under the stewardship of the Foundation of Goodness. As in 2015 and 2017, this third edition has proven that collective kindness can go the distance.

The 2025 PMTT Charity Ride may have ended in Colombo but its spirit continues to ripple through Sri Lanka, one life, one village, one smile at a time.
