A New Chapter in Experiential Learning: Dive Centre Opens at Udumulla Village Heartbeat Empowerment Centre

We are proud to announce the newly opened Dive Centre at the Udumulla Village Heartbeat Empowerment Centre (VHE Centre), which now serves as our newest Sustainable Income Generation Hub known as Goodness Getaway. This milestone reflects our continued commitment to creating meaningful opportunities through skills development, sustainability and experiential learning.

Designed to go beyond recreation, the Dive Centre functions as a platform for hands-on training, exposure and livelihood pathways for youth and surrounding communities. Operating in alignment with seasonal conditions, the centre is open to visitors for six months of the year during peak diving periods. During the remaining six months, the facility is dedicated to structured training and capacity-building programmes for local community members, equipping them with valuable skills and long-term opportunities within the marine and eco-tourism sectors.

The centre also strengthens the growing portfolio of Goodness Getaway initiatives, which seamlessly combine responsible tourism with community empowerment. Visitors can enjoy immersive experiences such as Plates of Goodness, Goodness Nature Cruise and E-Tuk Ride, each designed to create meaningful social impact while offering authentic and memorable experiences.

Strategically located in close proximity to the Foundation of Goodness Centre of Excellence (COE), the Dive Centre benefits from an integrated ecosystem that includes our education facilities, women’s empowerment centre and preschool. This unique setting enables learning, community development and sustainable tourism to coexist and reinforce one another.

With its opening, the Udumulla Dive Centre stands as a powerful symbol of innovation and purpose, demonstrating how adventure, education and community empowerment can come together to build sustainable futures and lasting impact.
