For many children, the excitement of a new school year is overshadowed by the worry of not having the books, stationery or shoes they need. When families face financial hardship, even these basic essentials can be beyond their reach, leaving children to begin the school year without the things they need to feel prepared and confident.
As we launch our Essential School Supplies Programme (ESSP) for 2027, we have received approximately 7,000 requests for support from children hoping to start the new school year with the essentials they need.
For just USD 18 (LKR 5,900), you can provide one child with a school bag, eight exercise books, two pens and a voucher towards a pair of school shoes.
Since 1999, the Foundation of Goodness has been working to ensure that financial hardship does not stand in the way of a child’s education. Through ESSP, we continue this commitment by helping children from underserved rural communities access essential school supplies and approach their education with confidence.
