Zonta Club Supports Empowerment at the Foundation of Goodness

We were honoured to welcome members of the Zonta Club to the Foundation of Goodness recently, whose visit left a lasting impact on our beneficiaries and our broader mission to bridge the gap between rural hardship and urban opportunity.

During their visit, the Zonta Club conducted a series of highly engaging and practical workshops on Beauty Culture, Social Media Marketing and Financial Management. With participants fully immersed, these sessions provided invaluable knowledge and real-world skills that our beneficiaries can now use to uplift their lives and communities.

The sessions were marked by the lively enthusiasm of both trainers and participants, reflecting a shared commitment to learning and growth. From mastering the basics of beauty therapy to understanding how to harness the power of social media for business and gaining essential financial literacy, the beneficiaries walked away with tools to navigate the modern world more confidently.

In addition to their time and expertise, the Zonta Club also made a remarkable donation of Rs. 420,000, which will fully fund the Beauty Culture course for 28 young women at the Foundation of Goodness. Although we offer these courses completely free of charge to disadvantaged communities, it costs approximately USD 50 (roughly Rs. 15,000) per student to provide the training, supplies and certification necessary to complete the programme.

For many rural women, access to professional skills training can be the turning point between ongoing poverty and economic independence. With employment opportunities in beauty services steadily growing in both urban and semi-urban areas across Sri Lanka, skills in beauty culture can help women secure steady incomes, support their families and uplift their entire communities.

Thanks to the Zonta Club’s generous contribution, 28 girls now have the opportunity to transform their lives. Their gift is an investment in education and in brighter futures. We are deeply grateful to the Zonta Club for their steadfast support and belief in the power of empowerment. Their visit served as a strong reminder that change is possible when compassion and action come together.

Together, we continue to work towards a future where no child or young adult is denied opportunities because of where they were born and every helping hand brings us one step closer.
